OCONTO, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Oconto say no one is hurt following a chimney fire Wednesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Oconto Fire & Rescue, crews responded at 1:43 p.m. to the 500 block of Congress Street for reports of a chimney fire.
Upon arrival, officials say they could see smoke coming from the top of a brick chimney on a two-story home.

Crews were able to enter the basement of the home to extinguish the fire which was contained to just the chimney pipe.
Firefighters then used thermal imagining cameras to check for any fire extension before removing all of the smoldering ashes from the chimney to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
Officials say no one was hurt in the incident but they add that the public should remember to get their chimney professionally cleaned and inspected annually.
