Frigid air departs this weekend

The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…

Cold weather will be slowly pulling away on Friday, putting us into warmer weather this upcoming weekend! As warmer air returns, clouds will thicken up, eventually bringing mixed showers Saturday evening and overnight. Right now, it appears roads could become slippery for a time late Saturday, especially northwest of the Fox Cities, where temperatures are cold enough to support a light ice/snow accumulation on the ground. Slightly ABOVE FREEZING ground temperatures from the Fox Cities to lakeshore Saturday may keep roads in good shape.

Plenty of sunshine and still cold Friday. The high is 18 degrees. In the morning, any bit of wind will make it feel like it’s below zero.

Low temperatures will be around 12 degrees this evening, then rise into the 20s overnight as winds shift to the southeast. For most, increasing clouds are expected. For the lakeshore, that wind from Lake Michigan could produce some lake effect flurries.

Mostly cloudy and warmer Saturday with a high of 36 degrees. Rain, snow, or a wintry mix will form later in the day – mainly in the evening. Some slippery spots are possible.

Cloudy skies on Sunday with a high of 41 degrees. As that storm system departs, it’s possible some stray light rain showers or sprinkles could remain here and there.
