Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue responds to two accidental fires within one hour

(WFRV) – Officials with the Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue say crews were called to respond to two separate fire incidents Tuesday morning that occurred just about half an hour apart.

According to a release, fire crews first responded at 10:00 a.m. to a home on the 700 block of Harding Street in the City of Menasha for reports of a fire on the outside of the building.

Upon arrival, firefighters were able to see light smoke coming from outside the home. They quickly contained the fire to just the outside of the home and prevented any further damage.

Officials say the cause of the fire is considered to be accidental and no one was injured during the incident.

At 10:30 a.m., fire crews responded to an apartment building on the 1000 Block of West Cecil Street in the City of Neenah for reports of a stove fire.

Firefighters already in the area doing neighborhood inspections were the first to arrive at the apartment building where they were faced with a moderate amount of black smoke coming from the building’s entry door.

Additional crews from other communities were called in to assist in putting out the fire that was contained to only the kitchen of the apartment.

The cause of this second fire is also said to be accidental and resulting in extensive smoke and fire damage estimated to be over $30,000.

No one was hurt in this incident, however, all family members and their pets are now without a home.
