BEAVER DAM, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say speed and alcohol played a primary role in a crash that left a 19-year-old seriously injured on Friday.

According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded shortly after 3:00 p.m. to State Highway 33 near Hidden Valley Drive in the township of Beaver Dam for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Prior to the crash, multiple callers alerted officials that a sedan was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed and was overtaking other westbound traffic.

Officials report that the car continued to overtake traffic until it attempted to do so in a no-passing zone on a curve and proceeded to lose control, enter a ditch, crash into several trees, and overturn.

The driver of the sedan, 19-year-old Caiden Luther from Grafton, was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated by a local fire department.

The 19-year-old was the only occupant of the vehicle and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.
