VIROQUA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 49-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested on Friday evening after self-reporting a firearm in his vehicle, following a reported discharge from the car.
According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, the 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a driver on U.S. Highway 14 around 6:30 p.m. on Friday in the Town of Franklin that while following another vehicle, a motorist used a firearm multiple times from their car.
The caller was no longer following but tried to describe the vehicle. Another call indicated five minutes later that a car contacted the back of the second caller’s vehicle. The second caller revealed that he had at least one firearm in the car, and waited at a nearby store to file a report.
46-year-old Wisconsin man arrested on seven counts of child pornography
The Viroqua Police Department and their dispatchers assisted with the investigation, and evidence indicated that the two calls were related. Children were in both vehicles; however, nobody was injured.
49-year-old Justice Kelly of Cuba City was identified as the second caller. Kelly cooperated with the investigation as a gun was recovered from his car before he was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on a possible charge of second-degree reckless endangerment.
The incident is still under investigation. No additional details were provided.
